Classic Vs. Contemporary: Finding Your Style – Defining your personal style is usually more than just one word. It’s also not easy for most to truly identify what their style is or what they want their style to say about them. Personal style can’t be found on Instagram or in magazines, or in a checklist of what you should have on this season’s trend list. To truly identify your style and create it, follow these tips for a more elevated, simplistic approach.
This is the first thing you need to do now. I’ve always said to choose your style adjectives and it’s usually a mix of 2-3, but some experts say to choose three in order to break them down even further to ultimately give you the whole picture. How do you want to represent yourself and be seen?
Classic Vs. Contemporary: Finding Your Style
Examples of adjectives to use the 3 word rule would be: classic, modern with a twist: feminine, elegant, chic: edgy, casual, fun: sporty, minimalist, relaxed: Artsy, modern, chic. Once you arrive at these words, the process becomes easier.

TIP: If you’re not sure, start creating a mood board on Pinterest or something, and I promise your words and your style vision will come together.
To organize a wardrobe, it’s important to understand our shape and what flatters it. There are no hard and fast rules for dressing fit, but it makes shopping a lot easier if you do it yourself. A professional stylist will always push you a little out of your comfort zone to show you how you can wear almost anything you want with the right cut, style and accessories, but it takes a lot of work. Keeping it simple with a few “body shape guidelines,” I promise, will help you in the process.
This is essential when changing our wardrobe and shopping. You need to regularly think about where you are going and what you are doing. The biggest challenge in the morning is knowing what to wear. Take those hassles out of the equation. If your lifestyle is WFH, or a stay-at-home mom, or both, then your clothes should reflect that. If you work in an office and perhaps travel a lot for work, you need pieces that mix and match well and travel well. If your personal style from day to night changes, you should have a wardrobe that represents both.
Budget is a big word, but once you get down to shopping, you need to think about where you’re shopping and how much you’re willing to spend on the pieces on your wish list. The more you refine this, the easier it will be to shop and create a wardrobe.
Contemporary Throw Blankets
What do you wear that you like? What do you wear that is easy to style and mix and match to create different outfit options? Take note of these pieces as it will help you when you are ready to shop. Most importantly, they become the backbone of your wardrobe, and if things don’t feel as good as these pieces, they should go.
After doing this homework, you are now ready to modify your wardrobe without any doubt. Anything that doesn’t match your words, your body, or your lifestyle needs to go. It’s a simple, pragmatic approach to changing up your wardrobe and clothing. In the end, you should have a real idea of your personal style, a wardrobe that reflects your style and a lot of happiness 🙂

A reflection on 2023 and a sincere thank you As 2023 comes to an end, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on this past year and, above all, say thank you! There are a lot of people and services in this space, and I can’t thank you enough for trusting me… Modern Classic style, also known as Modern Traditional, is the perfect blend of modern and traditional… that is to say timeless! This style features the sleek, simple, contemporary lines of the modern design style, combined with traditional furniture, finishes and accessories to take what was “then” and make it “now”. This design style is a true juxtaposition of modern and traditional that somehow works! This has become very popular with designers like Studio McGee and influencers like Chris Loves Julia. Modern classic style features mostly neutral tones with a few pops of color and simple patterns like stripes, vintage or solids. The neutral tones of classic modern homes are the perfect blend of warm and cool colors.
As a Modern Classic fan, you can shop just about anywhere to decorate your space, from Pottery Barn and Lulu and Georgia to West Elm and Ballard Designs. Don’t forget to empty out your grandparents’ garage and basement for antique treasures you’ll want to show off!
How To Get A Modern Classic Bathroom
The best way to start decorating in the modern classic style is to start with your modern furniture. Set the stage by working with a variety of modern furniture – even mid-century styles have a place here. Using clean, simple lines allows you to highlight that special vintage furniture and decor. Opt for comfort! This style is unlike the stuffy, traditional, untouchable spaces of the past. Choose soft, comfortable and casual furniture.
The best thing about the Modern Classic style is that you don’t need a lot of money to achieve this style. Instead, you can take what was old and give it new life! Do you have a traditional chest of drawers that was passed down to you? Great! Pair the more traditional, detailed furniture with a modern mirror and simple styling to showcase the modern and traditional mashup. The key is balance! As a general rule, or at least currently, about 3/4 of your furniture and decor should be modern and 1/4 should be vintage or traditional. Keeping this balance will help you ensure the modern classic style and not lean too much on the traditional.
This style is about finding a unique balance between the old, weathered and historic with the new, modern and simple. When decorating with pillows, bedding and blankets, it’s important to keep your designs simple. Textures work very well with this style: quilted patterns, velvet and linen often make an appearance when decorating in the modern classic style.
The pattern and prints you will see with this style are usually solid, striped, vintage or small patterned prints. One thing you won’t see is bright, bold, large-scale patterns in this style. Unlike other design styles, models should support players but not draw too much attention.
Major Painting Styles, From Realism To Abstract
The color palette combined with modern classic style is one of its distinctive features. It’s also a project that I fully expect to evolve over time. As they say in design, everything comes back in style. Currently, modern classic style is full of rich, warm neutral tones with crisp black contrast. You’ll often find deep greens, navy blue, natural wood and walnut, even warm, rich tones of brick and rust. The key is to keep your overall base neutral with creamy beige furniture and incorporate black accents for contrast. Interestingly, this style can appear light, bright and airy while also being moody and rich.
Our favorite aspect of this style is that it takes what was formally stuffy and “too precious to touch” and makes it casual, touchable and nostalgic. Decorating with vintage and antique style decor is the fun part! Of course, you’ll want to start with what you have. An old record player? Vintage landscape or family photos? Small object in gold or brass? Incorporating these pieces into your style will give your guests something to talk about in your space and keep your most treasured memories close at hand. However, if you don’t have any real vintage items, they are easy to find! We like to look for vintage digital art prints and add an antique brass frame. You’ll also want to incorporate plenty of rustic-textured decor items, like vases, lamps, bowls, and more. ! Adding these rustic elements adds to the overall “old to new” vibe that modern classic style is known for.
All right! So you think you’re the perfect mix of modern and traditional, great! The key to achieving this style lies in proportions. Keep 3/4
