8 Beauty Hacks To Make Your Makeup Last All Day – As someone who learned everything about applying makeup from Youtube, attending the Pearl Academy – Blend and Blush Workshop was an exciting change. Pearl Academy is the first international design, fashion, media and business institute in India – they offer a plethora of courses for undergraduates, graduates and other shorter professional certificates. They have 4 locations in India – Mumbai, Jaipur, Delhi and Noida, I went to the Academy in Mumbai located in Andheri East. Makeup artist/educator – Sakshi Sethi, has done a full makeup, smokey eye, ombre lip and highlight and contour on the beautiful and lively model – Aarti Khetarapal.
The most important point that Sakshi emphasized during the entire session was “CTM” – cleansing, toning and moisturizing. She explained that only when your face is completely clean and hydrated will your makeup look its best. If you skip toner, not only will your skin’s pH levels be off, but there will be dirt trapped in your pores that wasn’t removed during the cleansing step. I have had toners in the past, but I too am guilty of not using enough. My main takeaway is that at least early on before I put on makeup, I’ll use a toner. The one I always buy is rose water from Khadi – it’s gentle, smells nice and does the job perfectly. Rose water has many other benefits – it is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, contains antioxidants and the aroma has a calming effect.
8 Beauty Hacks To Make Your Makeup Last All Day
While preparing your face for makeup, make sure all your products are of good quality and suitable for your skin type. Sakshi pointed out that our skin reacts to a change in weather, so change your skincare to suit the climate. This is something that always slips my mind, I end up blowing up and then changing my routine. However, I will no longer wait for explosions to send me signals! I have dry/sensitive skin so adding a little aloe vera gel to my face serum/cream helps during the summer months. In the rainy and winter months, I add a thicker cream based on water and castor oil respectfully.
Be Nice To Your Makeup
On nights out or at events, you can mix a few drops of perfume into your face serum and apply it to your arms for a lasting scent. Another way to maximize the use of your serum is by adding a liquid highlighter to it and applying it all over your face. It will give your face a nice even glow.
Like toner, primer is another product that we tend to overlook. Sakshi said that not only does primer make your makeup last longer, it also evens out the skin which helps a little foundation go a long way. I personally always wear primer, and sometimes I wear it alone. I use ‘Makeup Forever Brightening Primer’, it adds a rosy tint to my skin which is perfect as I have yellow undertones.
Eye primer was also advised, she said, the skin around the eyes is 7 times thinner than the rest of the face, so you need a special cream and primer for that area. I’ve never used eye cream despite having them but I’m going to start now! When applying concealer under the eyes, tap repeatedly with your ring finger (it’s the softest) to blend the product instead of rubbing it into the area. This will help the product blend better into the skin and give you fuller coverage.
When applying foundation she suggests starting in the middle and then moving outwards. The focus of your makeup is always in the center, so start applying your foundation there and then move outwards. Once that area is covered, use the remaining product on the sides of the face, neck and ears.
Tips To Tackle Special Occasion Makeup
Sakshi explained that the highlight should be applied to the area that protrudes outwards such as the cheekbones, browbones, tip of the nose and cupid’s bow. Conversely, the shade of the contour should go to all the parts that go inward. This tip will simplify the highlight and contour step. The correct way to contour your cheeks is to draw a “C” starting from the tip of your ear to the balls of your cheek, make sure you are using less powder and then build it up as needed.
She also mentioned that blush highlight and contour should not appear as dark lines on the face, but should be subtly blended together. Work the product into your skin and continue to blend until the fine lines disappear. Use a fluffy brush and a light hand while applying your powder and your face is ready!
Another great tip that I had forgotten (because I haven’t worn much makeup in recent years), was to apply a line of kohl pencil on your eyes to act as a guide for when you apply liquid liner. I still struggle with applying liquid liner now and I always mess up my arm.
For brows, Sakshi advises to draw a line from the bottom of your brow and then brush upwards, small bristle-like strokes will do the trick. If you don’t have a separate brow kit, use a dark brown/black (depending on your hair color) and an angled brush to fill in the empty spaces.
Tips For Your Best Summer Makeup Look
When applying eyelashes, press the applicator down and hold for 3-4 seconds. After that apply mascara using the “brush and comb” technique, where “brushing” means brushing horizontally (like brushing your teeth) and “comb” is for combing the eyelashes upwards. Start from the bottom and work your way up for an even coat for a fuller look.
I haven’t had a chance to try all of these tips yet, however, I’ll let you know my thoughts. I especially look forward to mixing my perfume into my serum when I go out. please share your makeup techniques in the comments.
Hey, my name is Shanaya and I am a 25 year old Blogger, Vlogger & DJ from Mumbai. , formerly known as LittleMissSinner is a fashion, lifestyle and beauty blog. If you want to write a guest post or request a topic, get in touch! Contact me: Shanaya@Hello! Today I want to talk about makeup. More specifically, making it actually last. Because there’s nothing worse than spending a lot of time on serious makeup, only to find it completely missing a few hours later. Right?? Uhh, the struggle is real. Also, the post on getting curls to stay got great feedback from everyone, so I thought doing a similar post – but this time with long-lasting makeup tips – would be fun.
There are definitely makeup products designed to last a long time, and I’ll include some of those below, but the point of this post is to cover non-makeup products that will make any makeup last. Does this make sense? If you’re all interested in me doing a follow-up post on actual makeup that lasts longer, let me know and I’ll start testing things out!
Makeup That Makes Your Eyes Look Bigger
OK, so for each area of the face, there are steps that will go into making your makeup last. I broke each part of the face up (face, eyes and lips) to make it easier to wear – and if you only have one “problem area”, you can skip that part.
First, wash your face if you haven’t recently. Oil builds up quickly, even if you can’t really see it, so make sure you’re starting with a fresh face!
After drying your face, use an oil-free moisturizer. This is not the time to use a super heavy face cream or anything like that, keep it light. This is a super gentle moisturizer (+ works to absorb natural oil) for oily skin and this is another lightweight for all other skin types.
Primers are pretty much one of my favorite beauty inventions this decade and they are lifesavers for keeping makeup in place. It actually kind of makes me cringe to think that I used to put foundation directly on my skin, but that’s another story. Do you all feel the same? However, there are many primer variations on the market. Some help with discoloration, add moisture, etc., but since we’re focusing on makeup staying put, we want one that addresses that dullness.
Tips & Hacks To Create The Perfect No Makeup Makeup Look
I’ve gone through my fair share of primers and personally I like Becca the best for keeping makeup in place. I’ve also heard good things about this Nars, haven’t used it myself.
Once you’ve chosen a brand, apply a pea-sized amount of primer to your face, focusing on the T-zone (this is where the skin tends to be the oiliest section where makeup starts to lift from the start #ugh). And make sure you don’t use too much! Adding too much primer will make your face feel cakey, as will any extra layer of product; a pea size is just perfect.
This is when you can use foundation, bronzer, etc. –
