7 Makeup Brushes Every Beauty Enthusiast Needs – This beginners makeup brush guide covers the different types of makeup brushes, how to use them, and affordable makeup brushes for both makeup beginners and pros!

Happy Monday, friends! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I’m happy to share that I’m working behind the scenes on several new series that I’ll be revealing over the next few weeks. First of all, today I am sharing the ultimate beginner makeup brush guide where I am talking about makeup brushes and how to use the best makeup brushes.

7 Makeup Brushes Every Beauty Enthusiast Needs

As a beauty blogger and makeup lover I get asked a lot of beauty questions on a regular basis, so today’s post marks a new beauty series: Ask Cara. Every month I will feature a new popular topic that you (the reader) can choose from!

Makeup Brushes Every Makeup Enthusiast Should Own

First up in the series is one of the most asked about beauty topics – makeup brushes! I get asked all the time “Which makeup brushes do I really need?” , “Which makeup brushes are used for what?”, and most often “Which makeup brushes do you recommend?” So without any further delay, I have created a very useful makeup brush guide that helps you know how to use makeup brushes, makeup brushes and their names, and much more!

When I first started using makeup, like most beginners I had no idea exactly which makeup brushes I needed in my collection or which makeup brushes were used for what. To be honest, for a very long time I didn’t even own makeup brushes and would only use the little spatulas that came in eyeshadow palettes. (I know, I know I’m nervous too)

But eventually I realized that the main difference between good looking makeup and great looking makeup boils down to one thing – makeup brushes. Seriously if you look at some of my early eyeshadow looks versus some of my most recent eyeshadow looks, you can clearly see what a difference application makes and how big a role makeup brushes play in it. (Well, this and blending, but that’s a different topic for another day 😉)

In this makeup brush guide we are going to talk about the different types of makeup brushes and their uses, must have makeup brushes for beginners and professionals, and which makeup brush is used for what. Let’s first learn about the types of makeup brushes including makeup brushes for face and eyeshadow brushes.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post on the Ultimate Makeup Brush Guide and I hope you found it useful! What are your favorite makeup brushes in your collection? Let me know in the comments below! Executing a specific makeup look requires not only the right makeup products for your skin tone and type, but also the right tools and techniques. Makeup brushes help apply your products more evenly and precisely while avoiding patchy areas. You can tap, blend, buff, and press a product on to keep your base looking smooth and even. High-quality brushes that suit your needs are a staple of makeup kit – and below are the ones that need to become part of your collection as soon as possible.

Foundation brushes are specifically designed to apply liquid or cream-based formulations without leaving creases or harsh lines. They are made of dense bristles that help distribute the product evenly. While buffing brushes provide full coverage and are great for evenly applying foundation in just one swipe, kabuki brushes are great for an all-over finish. On the other hand, flat foundation brushes are ideal for applying creamy foundation in hard-to-reach areas.

These brushes are used to apply blush or bronzer on the cheeks. They’re larger and softer than the rest of the brushes on this list. Due to their round or angular shape, you can apply powder and cream products evenly and blend them seamlessly into your skin with their help. Blush brushes can also serve as powder brushes for baking or setting your makeup. But don’t forget to wipe off all the blush before switching to another product.

Eyeshadow brushes are flat with a slightly rounded shape and soft bristles that can pick up the product and distribute it evenly on your eyelids. They’re more precise than your fingers, with a controlled application that best suits the shape of your eyes. Choose a thinner brush to deposit color into your crease and, if you’re a fan of smoky, smoky lashes, choose a dome-shaped, fluffy eyeshadow brush to help blend.

Unlike liquid eyeliner, which come with a precise Applicator, gel, cream, or powder eyeliner needs to be combined with a brush for thin and precise application. The bristles of the eyeliner brush are tightly packed and angled to help create a precise and defined line.

Spoolies aren’t the only tool for grooming and shaping your eyebrows. Eyebrow brushes are typically small, angular shapes with stiff bristles that can be used to apply eyebrow powder or pomade, blend harsh lines, and control unruly hairs.

Similar to eyeliner brushes, lip brushes also come in handy for specific formulations. Creamy lipsticks or sticky lip glosses that require precise lines can be achieved with a lip brush. They have a small, tapered tip that allows you to apply the product evenly without smudging or smudging.

Designed with a flat, fan-shaped head, fan brushes are typically used to apply highlighter or bronzer to high points of the face, such as the cheekbones and temples. Their bristles are generally long and loosely packed, which allows for light and subtle application of product. To use the fan brush, simply dip the tips of the bristles into your highlighter or bronzer pot and gently apply it to your skin in a back-and-forth motion. Ready to take things to the next level?
