The Best Skincare Tips For Athletes

The Best Skincare Tips For Athletes – I discovered Pretty Athletic skincare last year at the Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) product demonstration evening (aka the Oscars of beauty) where the founder of Pretty Athletic was showing the Workout Glow Vitamin Tonic. Since then, Pretty Athletic has been exploding and you may have seen them all on social media, in Stylist Live and in the best magazines like Women’s Health.

As a frequent gym goer and runner I found it intriguing that the brand is the UK’s first skincare brand developed for active women. Exercise is great for your body, mood, well-being and boosts oxygen and blood flow to the skin but sweat, regular showers and exposure to the elements from being active outdoors can cause clogged pores, irritations and dehydration of the skin. Pretty Athletic products have been specially formulated to help combat this. What’s more, the British-made range is formulated with 95%+ natural ingredients and has no parabens, silicones, sulphates or microbeads.

The Best Skincare Tips For Athletes

Packed with Jasmine, Rose and Grape Seed oil the Recovery Boost Cell Repair Serum is 98% natural, has a beautiful texture and is designed to help fight environmental damage – so it’s great if you run regularly , play tennis etc outside. It absorbs well into my skin without leaving it greasy and is perfect at night!

Do Athletes Need Skincare And Haircare?

I really like the Purifying Cleanser and have been using it for a while now. It’s a gel cleanser made with Cucumber, Green Tea and Aloe so it has a subtle neutral fragrance and does a great job of removing dirt and makeup.

Body scrub is one body care step I don’t do enough of… I have a few in my stash from The Body Shop and Palmer’s but I always seem to skip this step which is a shame because the body scrubs are great for removing. dead skin so your moisturizer can absorb better and can help circulation as well.

The Pretty Athletic Exfoliating Scrub is made with Raspberry Seeds, Jojoba Microspheres and a botanical blend of Menthol, Lemon, Tea Tree and Eucalyptus. I found it wasn’t as intensive as I would have liked and the consistency felt more like a face scrub so I recommend using it with a body brush. Also, I didn’t really like the fragrance at all… Having said that, the Pretty Athletic Shower Scrub left a nice cooling sensation after use so it would be great after an intense workout or run to loosen up the muscles tired

Pretty Athletic recommends using this Vitamin Hyaluronic Tonic before and after your workout to balance and calm your skin. It contains Rosewater, Aloe Vera, Avocado along with active Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide and Vitamin E. At first I thought this was just a face mist but the instructions recommend that you spray your face with it and then wipe off with a cotton pad ( as you would a traditional face toner). This helps remove traces of makeup, sweat and dirt and doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or stripped. I found this Vitamin Hyaluronic Tonic very refreshing!

Building Healthy Kids Skincare Routines & Choosing Safe Products

If you are looking for a light moisturizer then this Hydration Kickback Gel Body Moisturizer is a good choice. It is packed with Sacha Inchi Oil, Aloe Vera and Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate the skin. Personally, I found this product not rich enough. I tend to use and need richer body creams for my body. The ingredients are good but to moisturize my skin especially in this cold weather I add a few drops of the Cell Repair Serum to make the Body Moisturizer more nourishing (the serum is designed for your face but if it’s good enough for your face it’s good enough for the rest of your body right…).

Overall, I love the concept of the Pretty Athletic skincare range, the quirky product names, the fact that the products are all 95%+ natural and the vibrant packaging. My favorites are the Creaser Purifying Cool Down and Workout Glow Hyaluronic Vitamin Tonic. Looking forward to their new releases! Check out the full range here.

Here are some types of skin care that are designed specifically for the lifestyle of athletes!

Your Skin & Diabetes: Common Issues And Smart Skincare Tips

Protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays is crucial. Apply a broad spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF before going outside, regardless of the weather! Reapply every two hours, or more often if you sweat a lot or participate in water sports. Consider wearing protective clothing, such as hats, sunglasses and UPF-rated clothing, to further protect your skin from the sun.

Sweating during workouts can lead to clogged pores and breakouts. Cleanse your skin after every workout to remove sweat, dirt and bacteria. Use a gentle cleanser that suits your skin type to avoid stripping essential oils. If you don’t have access to water and cleanser, use face wipes or micellar water to freshen up!

Athletes often experience dry or dehydrated skin due to environmental factors such as wind, sun exposure, and excessive sweating. Choose a light, oil-free moisturizer that provides hydration without feeling heavy or greasy. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, or ceramides, which help replenish and retain moisture.

Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, unclog pores and improve skin texture. Use a gentle exfoliant or chemical exfoliator (such as those containing alpha-hydroxy acids or beta-hydroxy acids) once or twice a week to promote cell turnover. Avoid harsh scrubs or excessive scrubbing, as they can irritate the skin.

Proper hydration is essential for overall skin health. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated from within. This is especially important during intense workouts or in hot weather when you are more prone to dehydration as well.

If you are prone to acne or breakouts caused by sweat, take some preventive measures. Shower as soon as possible after exercising to remove sweat and bacteria from your skin. Avoid wearing tight clothing that traps sweat and moisture against your skin. And use products containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide to help control acne, but be careful if you have sensitive skin.

Lips and hands are often exposed and prone to sunburn, dryness and chapping. Apply a lip balm with SPF to protect your lips from UV damage. Moisturize your hands regularly and consider using gloves when engaging in activities that expose them to harsh conditions or chemicals.

After intense workouts, especially those involving chlorine (eg: swimming), rinse with clean water to remove any residue from sweat, chlorine or other irritants. Use a gentle cleanser and moisturize afterwards to restore your skin’s balance.

As a tennis or pickleball player, nothing feels better than breaking a sweat over a good game on a sunny, cloudless day. The sun on your face, fresh air on your skin, and some healthy competition make outdoor sports a popular choice to stay fit and have fun.

However, while tennis and pickleball can be good for your physical health and mental health, time outdoors can take a toll on your skin. Exposure to UV rays is always a concern for extended time outdoors—and not all sunscreens are created equal.

Athletes Share Their Favorite Sun Care Products

Read on for a complete guide to the best skin care for athletes and how to protect yourself on the court from sun exposure.

Any extended time outside playing tennis or pickleball comes with the risk of sun damage to your skin. Especially on hot and sunny days, your face, neck, arms, and legs are vulnerable, and it’s easy to forget to apply sunscreen.

On the court, limited or no shade is available, and clothing is not always reliable sun protection—especially considering uniform requirements and practicality. Because the effects of sun damage and UV rays are sometimes only visible in the long run, athletes may not consider sun protection a vital part of their skin care routine . But just like training, warming up, cooling down and hydrating, protecting your skin should be essential to your preparation for the court if you want to maintain healthy skin as an athlete.
