Ocean plastic pollution is expected to triple by 2040, according to Bloomberg. COVID-19 isn’t helping matters – the report notes that the pandemic has increased the use of single-use plastics. There is some hope: An analysis published in partnership with the Pew Charitable Trusts suggests that this amount could be reduced by 80% if we took action to reduce the growth of virgin plastic production, improve global waste collection systems and invest in making it easier to recycle plastic material.
